|Overview||:|| There is a place in Mexico, called Santa Cecilia, where a lady called Imelda, who is the wife of a musician who leaves her and their 3 year old baby girl, Coco to study music. When there is no news of him, after many years, Imelda decides to ban music in the house, completely and starts a business of shoe making in the family.
After many years we get to see a young 12 year old boy, Miguel, living with Coco and other family members. Miguel is Imelda’s great- great – grandson. Just like Coco’s dad, Miguel also aspires to be a musician, and actor. One day , while playing Miguel, by mistake damages one of the picture frame, with Coco and her parents in the picture, he removes the picture from there , and observes that his great- great grandfather, holding Ernesto’s popular guitar.
He now comes to know about Ernesto being his great –great –grandfather, Miguel wishes to go to a talent show( which he does, also), the show is for the Day of the dead, despite his family not agreeing. He takes a guitar from Ernesto’s burial chamber, but he strums it and to everyone’s surprise, he’s not there, I mean he is there but cannot be seen by anyone. In spite of that, he can interact with his dead relatives, who come to visit him from the Land of Dead for a holiday (surprising, isn’t it). Miguel, comes to know that someone cursed him, for stealing from the dead and also that he has very little while to go back to where he came from, else he also will be declared dead, for going back, he has to be blessed by one of his family members, (dead), Imelda blesses him, along with asking him to leave music, which Miguel can’t possibly do, so he asks for Ernesto’s blessings, instead.|
